Good morning, boys and girls!
Today we are going to have a talk about television, newspaper, the Internet and radio.
Look at the blackboard. Let’s read these words. Can you call these words in one word? They are traditionally called the media.
2.Аудирование.
Now listen to the tape and read the list of some means of communicating with large numbers of people. Match the words and their definitions (ex.1, p.62 ).
3.Тренировка лексики в речи ( по образцу).
Say which of the mass media are:
-the most useful -the most interesting
-the easiest to use -the most convenient
-the most common -the safest
-the most expensive -thecheapest
-the most modern
Give your reasons (ex.2, p.62).
4.Работа с карточками.
Think of the advantages and disadvantages of the different mass media. Give your reasons.
Advantages: to rest, to relax, to receive information, to listen about famous people, to study foreign languages, to take part in shows and competitions, to travel round the world without wasting money, etc.
Disadvantages: it’s a waste of time, to have no time to communicate with relatives and friends, to damage your eyes, to get lazy, to have no time for sport activities in the fresh air, to learn about bad side of life, etc.
5.Аудирование.
Listen to the information about broadcasting companies in different countries. Fill in the table with the names of broadcasting companies. Which of them is your favourite? Why?

Now let’s read the text “Mass Media”.
7.Работа в парах.
Ask each other the following questions:
-Do the media play an important part in your life?
-Do you think that the media influence our life?
-Do you like to watch TV?
-Do you agree that most news we get from the media is bad news?
