Задачи урока:
Образовательные: - закрепить и расширить лексические навыки по теме "Разные страны – разные ландшафты"; - закрепить и расширить навыки выражения своего мнения по обсуждаемой теме и умение вести дискуссию; - развить навыки говорения.
Воспитательные: - формировать личностные отношения ученика к обсуждаемым проблемам;
- сориентировать учащихся в современной системе общечеловеческих ценностей.
Ход урока:
I.Начало урока. (Стадия вызова)
Объявление темы урока.
Good morning, kids! Today we’ll discuss very important problem: “Where life is better: in the country or in the city?” You are divided into 2 groups. I hope, that you have already prepared your arguments “for” and “against”. But before we’ll start our discussion let’s speak about our country – the Russian Federation. Answer my questions, please!
What is the population of Russia?
What is its area?
How many time-zones are in Russia?
What part of Russian population lives in the city?
What can you say about share of urban population in the beginning of the 20-th century?
So the situation has changed. Only 27 % of population lives in the country, 73 % live in the city.
So where is the life better: in the city or in the country?
Let’s begin our discussion and consider the facts.

Учащиеся из обеих групп по очереди называют преимущества и недостатки проживания в городе и деревне и приводят аргументы в подтверждение своих слов.
Pupil 1: In big cities people have a big choice of different jobs. If a person doesn’t like one job he can choose another one. Some people can combine two or more works. But we can’t say so about the country, because it’s very hard to get a good job there. Many people have to leave their homes to earn money in the nearest town or other places. It takes much time and energy. People who stay in the country usually get only a low-paid job. I think country is a good place for farmers, because they can only produce pure products but also sell them on the markets and get a lot of money.
Pupil 2: Living in the country is safer than in the city. Nearly every day we learn from news about terrorist acts, murders, rapes, traffic accidents in the cities. I think it’s terrible. Thousands of people die from taking drugs, AIDs and other serious diseases. It’s dangerous especially for girls and women to walk alone in dark time, So the criminal situation is very intense in the city. We can’t say so about the country.

I think that a country side is a perfect place for old people and children. Old people can improve their health conditions or just have a rest there. They can also find some activities. There is a lot of freedom for children in the village.
