Fir-tree was living in the wood...
Fir-tree was living in the wood,
The tree was tall and lean.
All seasons it was very good
And always in the green.
The storm was singing it the song:
"Sleep well, sleep well, my tree!
The winter's lasted very long.
Take care! Don't freeze!"
Fir-tree was loved by animals,
They often he tree sought.
The hares sprang like snowballs
But wolves passed it by trot.
A horse with shaggy, tired legs
Is hastening in the cold.
The snow's crunching under steps
Awaking silent world.
The horse is drawing an old sledge
With a man in a shabby suit.
He wasn't sorry any branch
And cut Fir-tree at the root.
Fir-tree is now very bright
With many coloured toys.
The children's hearts are full of light
And singing filled with joy.
