Цельэкскурсии:  создать условия для формирования представления у обучающихся о столице Соединенных Штатов Америки.

Задачи  экскурсии:

• познакомить обучающихся  с достопримечательностями города, совершив виртуальную экскурсию;
• расширить языковые и речевые знания учащихся по теме «Вашингтон»;
• пробудить  интерес к культуре и историческому наследию американцев через интересные факты, связанные с достопримечательностями города.

Маршрут экскурсии предполагает 5 остановок:

For some time we have been learning many interesting things about the USA. You’ve got to know that the USA is the richest and highly developed country in the world. It stretches from one coast to another. Today we are going to concentrate on one of the beautiful cities of the USA. It’s Washington. Our lesson will be in the form of the excursion through the central historical part of the town. Now we’ll visit Washington, D.C. and see its historical sights: the White House, the US Capitol, Jefferson Memorial,National Gallery of Art and National Museum of the American Indian.

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington, D.C. that is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, an American Founding Father and the third President of the United States.The Jefferson Memorial was officially dedicated by President Roosevelt on April 13, 1943, the 200th anniversary of Jefferson's birthday.The interior of the memorial has 5.8 m tall, bronze statue of Jefferson and on the panel of the southwest interior wall are excerpts from the Declaration of Independence. Слайд 5.Now, we are going to visit the White House- the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States. The White House is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. It wasbuilt between 1792 and 1800.A myth emerged that during the rebuilding of the structure after the Burning of Washington, white paint was applied to mask the burn damage.The White House and grounds cover just over 18 acres (about 7.2 hectares).There are 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms, 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, 3 elevators.

Washington, the first U.S. president and commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, is allegorically represented, surrounded by figures from classical mythology.Washington is draped in purple, a royal color, with a rainbow arch at his feet, flanked by the goddess Victoria (draped in green, using a horn) to his left and the goddess Liberty to his right.

6). The Capitol Grounds cover approximately 274 acres (1.11 km²), with the grounds proper consisting mostly of lawns, walkways, streets, drives, and planting areas.

The museum was established in 1937 for the people of the United States of America by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, with funds for construction and a substantial art collection donated by Andrew W. Mellon. The National Gallery of Art is dedicated on March 17 by President Roosevelt at evening ceremonies attended by 8,822 guests. Gallery contains one of the best art collections in the world: paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, graphics, decorative and applied arts of European and American masters. The West Building has collection of paintings and sculptures by European masters from the medieval period through the late 19th century, as well as pre-20th century works by American artists, many paintings by Rembrandt van Rijn, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Leonardo da Vinci. The Gallery's East Building, located on land set aside in the original Congressional resolution, was opened in 1978. It accommodates the Gallery's growing collections and expanded exhibition schedule and houses an advanced research center. Modern art from the late 19th century to the present day, including works by Picasso, Matisse, Pollock, Rothko, Warhol and others attracts numerous visitors of the gallery.  The Art Sculpture Garden is the most addition to the National Gallery of Art in Washington. Completed and opened on May 23, 1999, the location provides an outdoor setting for exhibiting a number of pieces from the Museum's contemporary sculpture collection.

George Gustav Heye (1874–1957) traveled throughout North and South America collecting native objects. His collection was assembled over 54 years, beginning in 1903. He started the Museum of the American Indian and his Heye Foundation in 1916. The Heye collection became part of the Smithsonian in June 1990, and represents approximately 85% of the holdings of the NMAI.There is a collection of 800 thousand objects and 125 thousand photos.
